%X In 2016, a severe drought affected the Javaés river basin in central Brazil, leading to very low water levels and negative impacts on navigability, maintenance of ecosystems and agriculture irrigation. In this work, we present an integrated evaluation of the drought in the basin with remote sensing techniques, involving estimative of extension of sand beds (classification of LANDSAT-8 imagery), terrestrial water storage (GRACE), precipitation (TRMM anomalies) and evapotranspiration (SEBAL algorithm with LANDSAT-8 imagery). Results of GRACE and TRMM indicate a severe hydrological drought in the region, with the driest period occurring in 2016 in relation to previous years. Also, extension of sand beds was highest in Javaés river in this year, showing difficult navigability and very low water levels, and sand beds were visible earlier in the year than in the previous ones. Finally, SEBAL estimative indicate that agriculture areas are ing water at same rate as other years, what can increase drought impacts. Although our results are not conclusive in terms of the relative role of agriculture water abstraction and precipitation deficits in the Javaés drought due to a short time series that was analyzed, our study present important tools for the evaluation of such severe disasters.
